You gotta watch this video from the show because what he says is surprising but if you’re Craig T. Nelson you can get away with it, maybe?

“Money…in Hollywood the salaries have gone way, way down.  We’re in the middle of a cutback here” he says during the chat with Bush and Hoover.

And there’s more he says as “I just felt disrespected,” with what the producers offered him for ‘Modern Family’ and Nelson turned down the role.

‘Modern Family’ has been a monster hit for ABC while ‘Parenthood’ has struggled to get decent ratings but is now moving to Tuesday night on NBC where they hope the popularity of the show will improve.

Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs Has Run In with ‘Hawaii Five-0′

January 27th, 2011 No comments

P Diddy and McGarrett are about to cross paths.  Well let’s say ‘Reggie Williams’ and ‘Steve McGarrett’ are about to go one on one later this season on an episode of ‘Hawaii Five-0.’  Sean ‘P Diddy’ Combs is guesting on television’s hottest new show that airs Monday night on CBS.

According to TV Guide, Puff will play ‘Reggie Williams,’ a New York City cop that travels to the fun in the sun state to track down the men responsible for brutal crimes to his family.  Which of course he has no jurisdiction in Hawaii so he runs up against ‘Team McGarrett’  during the episode.

The episode will air in the spring and P Diddy seems to be taking his role on the show seriously as he plans to buff up by training with a Navy Seal and take part in weapons training says the TV Guide article.

This is P Diddy’s second drama role as he played a lawyer on another CBS show ‘CSI: Miami’ for a two episodes in a couple of years ago.

The ‘Love Doctor Donny’ Deutsch Back, Has ‘Love Calling’ on Bravo

January 27th, 2011 No comments

Thought you had enough of Donny Deutsch?

Too bad!  He’s back.

And the brash, self centered, egotistical, thinks he’s a player, thinks he’s good looking, never passed a mirror where he didn’t try to fix his hair, obnoxious, braggadocio-us former CNBC host is back.

You gotta love Donny Deutsch!!!

NUP_136557_0008And his new show on Bravo is so absolutely perfect for him although it’s going to flop miserably.  If this isn’t the dumbest concept ever that is so perfect for Bravo.

‘Love Calling’ has Donny taking video calls from women on dating and love advice.  From a host that will give them the real deal as to how men feel about relationships with those women.

This is so absolutely brilliant.

Now here’s the deal.  It’s a live show so if you want to be part of the program you can go to a special link to ask the expert Donny Deutsch a question.  And get back real, hardcore response.  Not like that stuff you get from Oprah and Dr. Phil, right Donny.

It airs starting tonight on Bravo at 11PM Eastern.

This is going to be so cool.  And it’s going to tank so quickly.  But what a great idea.

Bad Week for MTV, Now ‘Jersey Shore’ Italy Gets Whacked

January 27th, 2011 No comments

First there was the backlash on the MTV show ‘Skins’ which tanked in the ratings this week.  Now Snooki’s trip with her pals to film ‘Jersey Shore’ in Italy is coming under fire as well.

Yeah it’s been a rough week for the execs running Viacom.

MTV will be taking the cast of the hit television show on the road for season four.  And production is expected to begin in the Spring with airing of the Italy episodes later this year.  But once again the National Italian American Foundation, which blasted the show when it first began on MTV, is on a war path again saying the image portrayed on the program of American youth is not something that needs to be sent overseas.

Jersey Shore castJoseph V. Del Raso told the Hollywood Reporter “American youth has so much to offer the modern world and it is certainly not represented by the caricatures portrayed by the Jersey Shore cast.”

Wait until the spinoffs from ‘Jersey Shore’ start.  And if the cast reads a newspaper, takes a look at CNN.com or watches ‘Good Morning America,’ just two words for the wild cast and crew as it heads to Italy.

Elton John a Sinner, Pastor Joel Osteen Says to Piers Morgan of the Award Winning Perfomer

January 26th, 2011 No comments

“I don’t believe homosexuality is God’s best for a person’s life “says Pastor Joel Osteen who I have watched and respected but now has to go away.  Pastor Osteen’s pitch is fun and well done.  But Elton John is an incredible musical act and puts on one of the best stage show’s ever.

Isn’t that where the rubber meet the road?

David Furnish and Partner Sir Elton John

David Furnish and Partner Sir Elton John

Guess not.  Piers Morgan’s show on CNN, which nobody watches, is the place for these comments.  He says that EJ and his significant other David Furnish are sinners.

We’ve heard this before from the pastor who said on CNN that “homosexuality is a sin” and that the “scripture shows that it’ a sin.”

Oh this is going to be something to watch on Entertainment Tonight, you think?

Joel Osteen and Victoria Osteen

Guess what?  We are just going to send you to the Huffington Post to read more about this story about Joel Osteen’s appearance on CNN instead of making any further editorial comments about the preacher.

Get the Lawyers Ready, Office Romance Book, Featuring ESPN

January 26th, 2011 No comments

Let me say that I love me some ESPN.

OK as a blogger for this site, I will admit that I had one office relationship while working in radio.  At 610WIP in Philly, when that station was music back in the ’70′s.

OK two office relationships.  OK four.  OK I’m going to stop counting.  But you know, back then, we had no employee manuals, no lawyers, we pretty much were boinking every body and every thing that was of age.  I mean we were in the entertainment business, right?

those-guys-have-all-the-funYeah right back then.  These days, well these days are really different.  And ESPN is about to get rocked by a new book about office romance at the “worldwide leader in sports.”

Oh the folks over at ABC, especially the legal department, are getting ready for a real mess.  Jim Miller is writing a book that gets released on May 24th about the internal “touchy feely, touchy feely” stuff going on at ESPN up in Bristol, Connecticut where the network hails.

Now I remember, back in the early days of ESPN some women who worked there.  Hey Jim?  You might want to give me a call.

The book is titled ‘Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN.’  Oh my.

Maybe I can get him to write one about my days in radio.

And Miller makes a comment that is the same today as it was back then.  What the hell else is there to do in freaking Bristol, Connecticut but screw around.

Some think this book is going to blow up ESPN.  Naaaaah!  We that were in or are in broadcasting are unfortunately immersed in this crap, and I say this crap because I’m a bit older and mature today.

But the stories I could tell.

A State of the Union, But You Gotta Love That Michele Bachmann (VIDEO)

January 26th, 2011 No comments

There has to be some entertainment value to a boring State of the Union address.  Wasn’t that a snooze, but guess what, the last thing we need is a rah rah conversation when almost 10% of Americans can’t find work.

michelebachmannb_10x15But to entertain us last night the Oscar goes to Michele Bachmann, the new leader of the formerly up and coming, now with an anchor Tea Party after her even more whacked out response to President Obama’s comments last night.

OK so you gotta watch this video.  And if you think these people have a clue of what the right thing is for this country, please, someone at the Tea Party, tell Michele Bachmann which camera to look at while doing her response to the President’s State of the Union Address.

Idiots.

And you don’t even spend any time engaging in the content of her response.  Which, well back to that 10%, only 10% of whatever Michele Bachmann says is all that makes sense.

CNN was the only network to carry the response live.  And you can bet executives at CNN cringed when the Congresswoman from Minnesota spent almost 7 minutes speaking into a camera that was put there by the Tea Party and not the one from CNN.

So she looked like that person we all know that talks to us but never looks at us.  Isn’t that the most aggravating person in the world?  Speaking to you but looking elsewhere.  “Hey, I’m over here you dimwit!”

Why CNN chose to stand out and run Michele Bachmann’s Tea Party response is bewildering.  Well, maybe not.  You gotta admit it seemed like a good idea for a network that pretty much has no one watching any of its programming. They should have sold a sponsorship, dropped in a few commercials, oooooh, maybe run a snipe below here saying “this response from Michele Bachman of the Tea Party is brought to you by Wilbur Durwood’s Rifle Range in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.”

I crack myself up.

But the only winners here are Democrats who applaud the cross-eyed response considering it part of the future rift of the Republican Party.

Republicans are pissed that she did it and independent voters are asking for their votes back.  And the “kill the bill” Congresswoman is now the face of bunch of people who can’t get one person to look at the right camera.

Oh this is going to be so much fun.

Two Stories, Who is OK to Advertise (Ad Age), MTV Troubled (Hollywood Reporter) Over ‘Skins’

January 25th, 2011 No comments

“Point/Counterpoint.”  Remember that portion of CBS TV’s ’60 Minutes’ back in the 1970′s?  OK well Google it and you will know that this whole concept is what the perennial program used as a segment during  the show.  One opinion, then the other featuring James Kilpatrick and Shana Alexander.

skins3So we have ‘Skins’ on MTV.   Remember it’s on  MTV.   The network has lost a considerable amount of advertising during the show that can easily be moved elsewhere on MTV’s program schedule.  But we will present two articles that really take a look inside the ramifications of the racy content during ‘Skins.’

Is it too much?  I used to thing that about ‘Jersey Shore’ but is that what viewers want?  Should MTV censor this content?

AdAge asks the question as to why movie studios can advertise during ‘Skins’ while brands like Subway, Schick and GM have pulled their media dollars from the show.  Then The Hollywood Reporter presents an analysis on why this is not good news for MTV.

We’ve been here before.  We’ll see what happens after all of the hype about the show and its advertisers.

More to come.

Former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell to NBC News

January 25th, 2011 No comments

Well he needs a job, right?  No longer running the great state of Pennsylvania and no longer Mayor of Philadelphia or in charge of the National Democratic Committee, essentially out of work, Ed Rendell has cut a deal with NBC News.

And everyone in Philly thought he’d get a job with the under-performing Philadelphia Eagles.

Jefferson Jackson DinnerFormer boss Ed Rendell is now a paid political analyst to NBC News.  Which means he will be seen not only on ‘Nightly News’ and ‘Meet the Press’ but also on MSNBC programming.  Most of his work will be on the upcoming 2012 Presidential election and one of his first job duties was as an analyst on tonight’s State of the Union Address.

You’ve seen him on a lot of these shows but now you will probably see him more as the talking head for the Democratic party.

Now let’s get my man Michael Steele a gig with a major news network and the battle will be officially on.

‘Father Albert’ Not ‘Fat Albert’ Gets a Talk Show

January 25th, 2011 No comments

Yes a priest is getting a talk show.  Heck we have a minister who snorted meth and slept with a male prostitute getting a reality show on TLC.  Why not a Catholic priest who wanted to get married and hung out with one of his female parishioners getting a daytime show.

This one has instant failure written all over it.  Let’s say “DOA” as in “Dead On Arrival.”

Father Albert Cutie, the good looking ‘former’ Catholic priest who left the clergy after begging to get married, is getting a shot at daytime TV with FOX television stations and others wanting to carry the summertime show.

father-albert-cutieNow remember these are the same group of stations that tried to launch Fran Drescher’s daytime talk that was pretty awful and that show was dumped after three weeks.  So now Father Albert gets his show.  Or should we say Albert gets his shot as ‘Digital Guy,’ responding to the story on TV Biz Wire, notes that Al is “no longer a Catholic priest.”

Thanks ‘Digital Guy’ for that important notification.

Yeah this one has failure written all over it but you gotta give it to the people who think of these these shows as there really is nothing else really creative that’s new in daytime.  And this is going to be truly boring once Oprah and Regis are off their respective shows.
