The TV ratings people are going to be up late the first night ‘Live to Dance’ goes up against ‘American Idol’ and on and on as these two series, if this happens, go up against each other.

The promotional activity for both of these shows for January launches will be massive.  Can Paula beat out her old show in the ratings?  Will ‘Idol’ make a comeback and lead the way once again as America’s most watched reality show.

Stay tuned.

Monster Ratings for AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’

October 31st, 2010 No comments

I couldn’t resist that headline.  “Monster Ratings” for this show.  And well worth it.   The trailer is a chiller.  If you like contemporary horror movies and want to see this in a series format this is your show.  If you’re a dude and you want your girlfriend or wife up close some night, “yes” this is the show you want to watch with her.

‘The Walking Dead’ is absolutely awesome for lovers of some wild horror stuff.  So you won’t want to miss it on AMC.  Of course the network made the smart move to launch this series on Halloween night and thank goodness the kids had on Monday.  You don’t want them going to sleep after watching an episode of this show.

Andrew Lincoln is Rick Grimes in 'The Walking Dead'

Andrew Lincoln is Rick Grimes in 'The Walking Dead'

‘The Walking Dead’ is a comic book series written by Robert Kirkman with art work by Tony Moore.  It deals with the lives of real people who attempt to survive the world taken over by, well you guessed it, the walking dead.  Now brought to life by Andrew Lincoln who plays Officer Rick Grimes who leads this group in their efforts to stay alive.

You won’t recognize but a few of the cast members but this one looks to be a winner.  Check out the trailer.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus for Vice President of the United States…on HBO

October 30th, 2010 No comments

OK so it’s just a maybe.  For now the ‘Seinfeld’ star is only in talks to do the lead as the first female Vice President of the United States on the HBO upcoming series ‘Veep.’  But she talking and HBO is buying this new comedy about a female Senator who becomes the VP and once in the new position finds that it’s not what she expected.

Julia Louis DreyfusArmando Iannucci is the writer-comedian who is working on the project and if you don’t know the name that makes sense as he’s got a couple of British titles under his name and is not really known in the United States.

First the Divorce, Now Hospitalization for ‘Real Housewives of Orange County’s Vicky Gunvalson

October 30th, 2010 No comments

Sometimes we have to remember that although these people are stupid enough to expose their personal lives on TV, though smart enough to take the money, they are real people.

Gretchen Rossi, Tamra Barney and Vicki Gunvalson, The Real Housewives of Orange County

Vicky Gunvalson is finding that out right about now.  She’s been in the hospital since Thursday with an undisclosed issue related to internal bleeding.   The ‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ participant will be there for several days as doctors attempt to find the cause of her ailment.

Gunvalson just announced recently that she was divorcing her husband of 16 years but still plans to remain with the show.  Assume part of the content of ‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ will be about that separation from her husband Donn.  But seems she has other issues that she needs to handle at this point.

Taye Diggs Doing ‘Kevin Hill’ Re-Do for ABC

October 29th, 2010 No comments

Who is ‘Kevin Hill’ you might ask?  Well it only lasted one season on The CW but Taye Diggs, who played the title character’ did a great job as a full time attorney who ended up getting legal custody of his late cousin’s daughter.  This show was done very well, kinda in the style of the current ‘Life Unexpected’ which is of high quality but just can’t seem to find an audience to follow.

Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs

Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs

Now he’s working with ABC on something a bit similar, a new show titled ‘Match,’ a drama that will highlight the world of adoption and how it affects all involved in that legal process.  ‘The ‘Private Practice’ star sold the script to the same network which carries the spin-off to ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and no word yet as to whether he will be part of the lawyers, doctors and caseworkers the drama will look at during the series.

If you ever know anyone who went through the adoption process, this will prove to be an eye opening show.

Polygamy Lives on at TLC With More ‘Sister Wives’ While HBO Drops ‘Big Love’

October 29th, 2010 No comments

I have to admit that neither of these shows interest me.  Watched ‘Big Love’ a couple of times on HBO but just never really felt it was worth my time.  I guess I have enough trouble negotiating my way through Match.com let alone having multiple wives and children.

Truly not for me.

But for those of you that are in to the drama of sharing your husband with other women well there’s good news and bad news.  Let’s get the tough stuff out of the way first.

‘Big Love’  is ending its run on HBO after the show’s fifth season.  It will return for its final episodes on January 16th on the network and executive producer Gary Goetzman says this final set of episodes will be “the best ever” for ‘Big Love.’

The 'Sister Wives' and husband Kody

The 'Sister Wives' and husband Kody

Step forward  TLC’s new reality show ‘Sister Wives’ which has been given the green light for a new set of 10 episodes.  Plus a honeymoon special is going to run on the network on November 28th.

Happy Thanksgiving honey!  Or should I say honies?  Or is it honeys?

Whatever!

Our buddy James Hibberd over at The Hollywood Reporter says the honeymoon episode will feature Kody and Robyn enjoying their time alone from the other wives in their first act as husband and wife.

Oh joy!

Best Commercial of This Nasty Political Season, the ‘Terminator’ and James Cameron

October 29th, 2010 No comments

Well my friends in less than a week we will be free of all political advertising for a little more than a year before the general election rolls around.  And truly good riddance.  Cause it’s been ugly.  Not only the content of the ad’s messages but everything about the constant fighting and bickering just makes you miserable, doesn’t it?

terminatorHere in California, it would be nice for all of them to lose.  How many more crappy commercials can we see from Barbara Boxer taking on Carly Fiorina.  Then Jerry Brown and Meg Whitman running for Governor of this broke ass state and it’s relatively miserable.  Thank God for DVR’s cause you can speed past them.

The only people happy right now are the TV stations making loads of money during this political season.

One commercial stands out.  ‘Avatar’ director James Cameron hooks up with Governor Arnold for one of those propositions all about climate change.   Now that Arnold no longer has a future in politics, teaming up with his old producer might be a good career move.

Remember when there  was all that talk about changing the constitution to allow Arnold a chance to run for President?  Now Arnold couldn’t run for President of the Home and School association and expect to win.

But this is a good commercial.  Even in this sad, political season of stupidity.  It’s almost over.  It’s almost over.

The Original “Book ‘em Danno’ from ‘Hawaii Five-0′ James MacArthur, Dies at 72

October 28th, 2010 No comments

Scott Caan is an awesome Detective Danny Williams on the new version of ‘Hawaii Five-0′ which is currently the only new show in the top 20 ranking of TV programs.  And most of you watching the new show on Monday night may not even remember the original ‘Five-0′ that ran on the same network for 12 years.

The updated series, which is absolutely awesome, should be so lucky.

James MacArthur, the original Detective Danny Williams on 'Hawaii Five 0'

James MacArthur, the original Detective Danny Williams on 'Hawaii Five 0'

James MacArthur, who played the original Danny Williams passed away at the age of 72.  With his role working with the incredibly good looking Jack Lord, the original Steve McGarrett, women tuned in every week to gush over these two.    He actually only played 11 years on ‘Five-0′ as the role kinda bored him after hearing “book ‘em Danno” for such a long time.

MacArthur was the son of actress Helen Hayes and famed playwright Charles MacArthur.

Hey Maura Kelly…Stop Picking on My ‘Mike and Molly’

October 28th, 2010 No comments

Hiding behind ‘free speech’ when you say something stupid is weak.  Maura Kelly and her bosses over at Marie Claire are pretty much weak and stupid for their support of what she said and allowed to be mentioned about people who are overweight.

Molly (Melissa McCarthy) and Mike (Billy Gardell)

Molly (Melissa McCarthy) and Mike (Billy Gardell)

The fact is, and we already mentioned it a number of times on this site, ‘Mike and Molly’ is a very funny, well produced show.  How Maura Kelly could “go there” is beyond reasoning.

That’s why what she said is stupid and weak.  What was the purpose?  This is not a show about overweight people but one about a twisted group of dysfunctional characters that is middle class America.  Two cops, a teacher, a mom that drinks, a sister that likes men as in all men, and a grandmama which makes for a really funny show.

Where did the weight of the two main characters become an issue for this dingbat?  You see, this is what happens when you insult other people, it causes more name calling that doesn’t end.

Maury Kelly needs to just shut the hell up and worry about her own history of eating issues.  She herself struggled with anorexia in the past and should know better.  When you see someone suffering from that disease or malady as I have it’s no reason to criticize and truly not something that should “gross you out” as she wrote about ‘Mike and Molly.’

Most people, even though overweight, are OK with their status.  Maura probably needed a shrink to help her deal with her issues.  So what’s more gross?  An overweight person or some anorexic woman throwing up in a bathroom after eating a pickle?

But remember “free speech” and hiding behind it.  Cowards.  Pure, simple cowards.

You Gotta Love These Taiwanese Animators, Now Doing Charlie Sheen

October 28th, 2010 No comments

We weren’t going to do any more stories about Charlie Sheen, the liquored up, coked out, hooker hiring, wallet gone lead actor in the CBS hit show ‘Two and a Half Men’ but after seeing this animation of his latest escapades at the Plaza Hotel in New York City we just couldn’t resist.

charlie-sheen-taiwanPlus these are such easy and fun stories to write as feeling sorry for the guy has left the station, closely following  the Lindsay Lohan train which rolled out of here several months ago.

So for humor sake, let’s go to the videotape and watch how Next Media Animation explains the current Charlie Sheen mishap where cops gave him the option of jail or the psych ward at a local hospital in New York.

So here goes, enjoy this one, let’s have some fun with this guy cause the next time he does something really stupid, well it might not be a laughing matter.
